You may have the favicon or logo, but systeme will reject it when you try to upload it because the file size is too big.

So how to set up the favicon in systeme.io?

Easy.

Create a free account with systeme: https://eranbucai.com/

Then go to favicon.io = https://favicon.io/

Upload your logo.

Download it in smaller, favicon-like sizing.

Upload it in systeme.io under "settings", then "custom domains", and then upload the favicon (sizing 32x32).

Btw, what's a favicon?

That logo you see at the top of your tab on your browser that identifies this is your website.

This tutorial will show you how.

Here's the problem:

When you connect a domain name, like https://www.websitediycourse.com/, there is no automatic home page for you to edit.

You need that domain name to be a home page, a page on your website.

When you first connect your domain name, and you type that domain name, you end up with an error page (as shown in this tutorial).

You need to SET A HOME PAGE when you're creating your first funnel.

Once you set the home page (as shown in the tutorial) you'll have a little picture of a house on the custom domains page.

Note that the login page is also in the custom domain section of the website too.

Go to systeme.io, and click on your profile picture on the top right.

I use an HTML code to do that, but thankfully you don't need to know coding!

Because I created a software tool that lets you generate the code you need in a couple of clicks, and all you need is to copy and paste it into an HTML block in systeme.io

Go to https://linkredirect.io/ and do the following:

Enter your name and email.

It'll take you to the code generator page.

Paste the link to want to send people to.

Click enter and grab the HTML code.

Go back to your systeme.io page, the one that you want people to not see and be redirected away from.

Drag a "section" to the top of the page.

Then drag an HTML element to that section.

Click "edit code" and paste the HTML code you got from https://linkredirect.io/

That's it!

Let’s pretend, for a moment, that you are a detective trying to solve a crime. You and your hound find the trail of a criminal in the woods and notice footprints. Because of your training, you can tell what direction they were headed, how fast they were going, what size shoe they wear, what kind of shoe, approximate weight and more. This is valuable information for the investigation - the criminal didn’t even know that clues were being left behind automatically.

Something similar happens on the internet. When we visit websites, search for information, leave comments, upload videos, like pages and more, we leave another kind of footprint that’s also valuable. This is your digital footprint.

To understand why your digital footprint is valuable, we have to consider how business works on the web. Organizations depend on collecting and analyzing what people do on their website. That information can help the website, make recommendations, inspire helpful features, connect people, sell products and more.

The organization may also be able to sell the information to advertisers. The bottom line is that your digital footprint is being tracked and saved because it’s valuable.

And leaving tracks is unavoidable. By simply using the web, we leave digital footprints by default. And for the most part they are harmless. However, digital footprints do come with risks.

Unlike a footprint left in the woods, our digital footprints don’t get washed away. Your digital footprint leaves tracks across the web that lasts much longer than we can remember.

That comment you left on a blog five years ago? It’s still there. This means your digital footprint is part of your online identity and doesn’t go away.

The problem is that your digital footprints could be discovered and used to make decisions when you apply for school or a job. What seemed like a funny video to share 3 years ago could seem inappropriate today - and keep you from getting a job.

So, if digital footprints are unavoidable and saved by organizations, what can we do? First, we can choose to be respectful and responsible online. Before posting on a public website, imagine how it would look to a future employer or on the front page of a newspaper.

Second, we can take steps to protect our privacy. This means understanding how our favorite websites and services collect and use our information. Find the site’s privacy settings and choose a level that works for you.

Third, consider having more than one account or persona online. This could be a professional account and personal account. By consciously switching between accounts, you can keep private information private, but still have an online presence that can be found easily.

Our digital footprints can be both helpful and a risk. As you use the web for work school or to be social, keep in mind that your actions are being tracked and it’s your responsibility today to prevent problems in the future.

This video explains the steps that one takes to have a custom built website. Our character Emma has a dog walking business and needs a website. A friend walks her through the process of finding a domain name and getting the site online. It teaches:

How the domain name registrar and host work together

Emma loves dogs and recently, her favors for friends have turned into a business. And now she needs a website to do it full time. But she’s not sure how it all fits together. Does she only need a domain name like emmasdogcare.com or is there more to think about?

Over coffee a friend gave Emma a brief lesson on getting started with a custom-built website. First, she would need a domain name. Emma likes the domain name emmasdogcare.com for her site, but she needs to be sure it’s available. To check availability, she can use a domain name website to search for it.

If emmasdogcare.com is available, she can register it. This means paying a modest annual fee to the company that registers the name. As long as she keeps up with these payments, the name is exclusively hers to use for the website and email addresses.

If the .com suffix is not available, she can use others like .biz or .net. With a domain name secured, she could think about what the website should contain. She knows some local web designers and developers who help her get a design in place that has images, colors and descriptions of her services.

She now has two important things: the domain name and a design for the site. Next, her website needs a home - a place for the images and words to live and be accessible on the web. That home is a kind of computer called a server. When a person visits a website, what appears on their screen originates from the server.

The problem is that these servers can be a pain to manage, so most people work with companies who specialize in managing servers, DNS and websites. These companies are called “hosts”. For a fee, Emma can give her website a secure and reliable home and leave the technical aspects to the experts. The host gives Emma and her designers and developers a secure way to build the site and make changes.

Now she has it all, but to get her site online, she’ll need to make sure all the organizations are on the same page. This means telling her domain name registrar where to find the new website at the host. This way, when someone types emmasdogcare.com, the domain name system knows where to find the site and make it available.

Once everything is set, the system works seamlessly. Emmasdogcare now has a home on the web and Emma gets to pick her favorite dog pics for her website.

Finding accurate and useful information on the Web can be frustrating. With so many websites, it’s difficult to know what is trustworthy and factual. To solve this problem, you need think like an editor. Let me explain.

Back before the Web, books, newspapers and journals were the main sources of information and like today, they were usually trustworthy. This is partly because these resources are expensive to produce. Publishers need special equipment and staff, and a way to ensure that they only print trustworthy information. If they print bad information, the business could fail.

This is the job of the editor, who acts as a gatekeeper. Editors ensure that everything that’s printed meets the organization’s standards.

Today, things have changed. Almost anyone with a computer and Internet connection can be a publisher, no printing press or editor required. For most websites there is no gatekeeper. This means that you, as a reader, now have to think like an editor and take an active role in deciding what websites you can trust. Here are some things to consider:

Editors and journalists often depend on existing facts and information in their work. When an article states something as a fact, like “The annual rate of inflation in 1980 was 13.58%” that information can be sourced from the U.S. government - and that source matters. If an article names high quality sources of facts along with the article, it’s a good sign.

And reputation is important to editors. They consider the reputation of the publisher and author, when the information was published, and more. As a reader, ask yourself: Do you recognize the website or author? Are they a known authority? Is the information current? These answers matter and can help you find the best information.

When a news event happens, editors look for eye witness accounts. If two people witness the same thing, it can often be considered a fact. The same is true for websites - if you can find the same information on multiple trustworthy websites, there is a better chance it’s accurate.

Editors also work toward fairness in covering controversial subjects like politics. A single subject can be viewed from multiple perspectives and they work hard to understand all sides before publishing. Smart readers do the same with websites, where conflicting opinions are common and often productive.

Consider the author’s goals and biases. Ask yourself: Are they selling something? Is he or she representing an organization or group?

Answering these kinds of questions are all part of being your own gatekeeper for the information you read. And once you start thinking like an editor, you’ll be better able to make your own projects the best they can be.

To make one of these processes more efficient, we need a way to visualize it. This means laying out steps and decisions so we can truly understand how it works. With this understanding, we can improve the process or teach it to someone else.

A flowchart is a great way to draw and understand a process. The big idea is that almost any process can be drawn and analyzed using a flowchart.

Organizations large and small use flowcharts to understand and improve processes to help the them be more efficient. This could include how a product is built in a factory, how travelers move through an airport, or how a computer program is designed.

Let’s look at a simple example. Imagine it’s time to do the laundry. Your clothes need to be washed with a washing machine. We’ll use a set of standard flowchart shapes to draw this process.

Each process has a beginning, like deciding to do laundry. We’ll use an oval as our starting point. Now we need a way to connect that starting point to the next step, so we’ll use a line with an arrow. Next we’ll need to gather the clothes to be washed. This is an activity and we’ll use a rectangle for this step.

Now, we need to make a decision about the clothes with a yes or no answer. We’ll use a diamond that points to each answer. We’ll sort the clothes by asking whether the fabric is white or not.

This splits the process in two, with different activities. Clothes with colored fabric are washed with cold water and clothes with white fabric are washed with hot water.

In both cases, we take specific steps to add soap, turn on the washer and inspect the clothes when finished. With this process complete, we have another decision: are the clothes clean?

The clothes with colored fabric get a stain remover added and clothes with white fabric get bleach added.

We’ve now drawn a flowchart to visualize and understand a process. Each step and decision is represented, along with what to do when activities have different results.

By laying out each step of a process in a standard way, we can not only understand it and find ways to improve it, but help others learn and see it from a new perspective.
